Ever wish you could be a kid again?  Some of the sponsors at Rackensack Pony Club in Little Rock, Arkansas found themselves in this position.  The motive?  To be able to participate in Pony Club!

When we learned about the new USPC Horsemaster program at Annual Meeting, we knew that this was the answer.  Rackensack's Horsemaster group began in December 2005.  In addition to group rides and  horse management instruction, we actively volunteer for our Pony Club.  Most adults take private lessons (or no lessons at all).  Horsemasters shares world class instruction in a fun group format plus provides a venue to enjoy your horse with other like-minded adults. We learn as much from each other as the clinician.  It's so much easier to jump your first bank or do your first water when you follow a confident leader.

We keep it simple at Rackensack Horsemasters.  We meet monthly (except in summer) and plan one month in advance.  We settle our horses in, go out for lunch, return to ride with the chosen clinician.  Our group includes all levels from a dressage queen to a Training Level eventer.  We enjoy learning from each other.  If we're jumping, you just drop out when the jump is over your level.

Our December 2006 meeting was a  Potluck and trail ride at Leslie V's in Bismarck.

We had a great time at Leslie's!  Picture perfect weather, great food, a great "competitive" trail ride.  Thanks to Leslie and her hubby, Chuck, for the wonderful time!  Lots of great pix from Chuck attached.

Our trusty nags stood tied to the trailer like the western horses you see driving by the show grounds while we had lunch (great lasagne Leslie). Lea found a new friend (Leslie's monkey)!   He was a service monkey for a quadriplegic and is now retired.  Very cool little guy.  Now I know why her email is monkeyvog.

Leslie has great trails that wind throughout their property and Chuck  put out a bunch of colored ribbons.  We rode out in teams in search of the illusive ribbons.  Lea and Sunny were the winners with both of the blue ribbons.  Leslie, Caryne, and Sandee were second ----  we dropped some and none of us could remount so they were left behind!  It was great to see Bev on a horse---she had the trailer and Lisa brought the horses.  Leslie had great prizes for the game.
Lea put Leslie's Morgan thru his paces and had him frothing at the bit.  Sunny brought her new 3 year old paint mare who acted like she'd been on a zillion trail rides.  Lea is riding Sunny's Elvis.

Potluck lunch was first on the agenda. Lea made a new pal--Leslie's monkey!      Look, they are all still tied to the trailer       through lunch!

We warm up before heading off on the trails.                                      Bev brought the trailer and Lisa brought 2 horses. Teamwork!

Sunny & Lea were the winners (was it because no one else could mount without a block after they dropped ribbons??? LOL

Sunny brought her new 3 year old who was so well behaved!           Leslie on her Secretariat grandson! He's cute and fast!

Sandee on Manny, Leslie on Harry, Bev on Roxy, Lisa on Kami, Sunny on her new paint, Lea on Elvis and Caryne on Tristan

Lisa & Kami head back to the trailers.                         Caryne and Tristan in the warmup.  Caryne, Leslie, & Sandee get the  award  for dropping the most ribbons and talking the most!

Our November 2006 meeting was a ride with USDF Bronze Medalist and judge, Nancy Sobba.  She had awesome and revealing mirrors

in her arena.  Wish I had those at home! It was just as interesting to listen to Nancy teach as it was to ride with her. Next time she is going to

charge us extra for trailer parking.  The lot was tight and Nan had to back in all of our trailers.  Talk about a great sport!

Caryne is on Tristan with Nan, Sunny, Leslie, Lea, and Sandee

Our October 2006 meeting was a cross country  ride with Jessica Pye, Gold Medalist in the Young Riders program!

We did a flat work session and continued to a cross country school. Check it out! The grey ears belong to Sandee's horse Manny who really wanted to go  and jump that stuff (maybe next year...)

From left:  Rackensack Pony Club Horsemasters   Lea, Sunny, Lisa, Caryn, Margaret visit with YR Gold Medalist Jessica Pye before 9/17/06 rides. Sandee is taking the photos.

Training Level Eventer Lea & Chunky  lead the way!      Pony club mom Lisa and her OTT mare are scopey!

Caryn has a great first XC ride!                                        Margaret on Clifton enjoying a change from hunters!
